The Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all maintenance activities to ensure that production equipment, machinery, and facilities operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance, cost control, spare parts management, lean manufacturing initiatives, and continuous improvement while ensuring strict compliance with safety standards.

RESPONSABILITIES AND TASKS
1. Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise, lead, and coordinate all maintenance processes and operations.

2. Maintenance Planning & Execution

  • Conduct routine production maintenance to minimize breakdowns and downtime.
  • Assign repair schedules and evaluate repair cost estimates for effectiveness and accuracy.
3. Inspection, Monitoring & Compliance
  • Conduct and oversee regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify faults and maintenance needs.
  • Detect, troubleshoot, and resolve maintenance-related issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of both preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
4. Budgeting & Cost Control
  • Monitor raw material price movements and advise management on cost risks, buying opportunities, and procurement timing.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing, supplier competition, substitution, consolidation, bulk buying, and improved payment terms.
  • Develop supply risk mitigation plans, including dual sourcing, safety stock strategies, alternative supplier readiness, and contingency procurement plans.
  • Support landing cost analysis for imported materials, including freight, customs, clearing charges, duties, insurance, and foreign exchange exposure.
5. Spare Parts & Inventory Management
  • Oversee equipment and spare parts inventory.
  • Manage spare parts stock levels to ensure availability while avoiding overstocking.
  • Initiate and monitor orders for replacement parts, tools, and maintenance supplies as needed.
6. Continuous Improvement & Engineering Support
  • Contribute to improved equipment design and manufacturing processes.
  • Support engineering and production teams by providing maintenance expertise and recommendations for reliability improvements.
  • Encourage best practices and standard maintenance procedures across the department.
7. Documentation & Reporting
  • Document daily maintenance activities, progress updates, and equipment status.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, breakdown reports, and spare parts usage data.
  • Provide performance reports highlighting downtime analysis, cost savings, and preventive maintenance effectiveness to management.
REQUIRED SKILLS

Language skills – English.

Education Degree – Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field. 

Work experience – Minimum 5 – 7 years relevant experience in maintenance management or senior maintenance supervision in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

RESPONSABILITIES AND TASKS
1. Supplier Identification & Market Intelligence

4. Cost Optimisation & Risk Management

  • Coordinate with Finance on procurement budgets, payment schedules, supplier credit terms, LC processing, and cash flow alignment.
  • Partner with Warehouse and Logistics teams to ensure timely delivery, proper documentation, inventory visibility, and prevention of stock-outs.
6. Compliance, Documentation & Supplier Relationship Management
  • Ensure supplier compliance with NAFDAC, SON, import regulations, food safety requirements, company quality standards, and approved procurement procedures.
  • Maintain complete procurement documentation, including RFQs, quotations, supplier contracts, certificates of analysis, regulatory certificates, import documents, and performance records.
  • Build strong long-term relationships with strategic suppliers while maintaining ethical, transparent, and competitive sourcing practices.
  • Monitor supplier performance against KPIs such as on-time delivery, quality acceptance rate, responsiveness, pricing stability, and documentation accuracy.
