HYGIENIST

To strengthen our growing operations in Kano, NutriK is seeking a dedicated and experienced Hygienist to join our QHSE Department.

POSITION GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Position: Hygienist.
  • Location: Kano.
  • Number of positions: 1.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of activities related to hygiene
  • Ensure effectiveness of Pest control activities
  • Ensure the validation of the cleaning methods
  • Ensure the effectiveness of the activities related to Waste management
  • Participating in the food safety team activities
  • Perform training and awareness related to GHP and GMP to all staff, visitors and subcontractors

RESPONSABILITIES AND TASKS

  1. Coordinate hygiene activities and their effectiveness
  2. Perform all scheduled daily and weekly inspections in order to maintain the expected level of hygiene.
  1. Supervise preparation of all cleaning solutions
  2. Perform the yearly cleaning validation
  3. Train cleaners on the cleaning method as described in the internal procedure
  4. Supervise the cleaning activities carried out by the cleaning staff.
  5. Ensure staff competency in the cleaning solutions preparation
  6. Ensure effectiveness of the cleaning program
  7. Ensure the validation of all cleaning methods used
  8. Ensure the timely request and use of the hygiene and pest control consumables
  9. Ensure the availability of the hygiene consumable and work uniforms
  10. Analyze with the GLP and Suppliers Quality Assurance the weekly results of environmental analysis and develop effective action plans in the event of deviation
  11. Trend analysis of Temperature and humidity in production area and warehouse
  12. Panelist for sensory evaluation of raw materials, packaging materials and finished product
  13. Availability of cleaning records in production area, retrieve all records after each cleaning
  14. Weekly inspection of the warehouse and share a report to GLP and Suppliers Quality Assurance after each visit
  15. Perform the Pest control checks and analysis of the results and trend
  16. Train the outsource provider (Waste and Pest) and evaluate them at least annually
  17. Ensure the effectiveness of the pest control program
  18. Perform weekly meetings with cleaning staff
  19. Monitor the staff hygiene, clothes and behavior
  20. Perform the control of traps installed as part of the fight against pests as defined in our internal procedure
  21. Perform trend analysis on pest activities and EM results Participate in the weekly meetings of the quality department.
  22. Train all staff in GHP and GMP
  23. Perform an induction to visitor and subcontractor before entering production area
  24. Member of Internal Auditor team.
  25. Member of the change team.
  26. Member of the HACCP team.
  27. Participating in the Management review
  28. Establish a plan of hygiene visits for the current year with, the GLP and Suppliers Quality Assurance and share the plan with the stakeholders
  29. Follow the gap closing with relevant stakeholders
  30. Carry out any additional relevant tasks assigned by the line manager.

REQUIERED SKILLS

Language skills – English.

Education degree – Bachelor’s degree in food science or any other related field. 

Work experience; 3 Years in food industry years’ experience in same position or related field  Computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel & Outlook Other required skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Audits & Compliance: Lead inspections across Plumpyfield production sites, ensuring systems meet Nutriset franchisor standards and client needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for enhancement, share best practices, verify implementation of recommendations, and foster operational excellence.
  • Partner Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for quality management within the network—supporting audits, CAPA procedures, root cause investigations, and documentation updates.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing: Develop and deliver targeted training sessions, webinars, and materials on hygiene, in-process controls, leak testing, and other critical quality topics.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Stay ahead of industry regulations and ensure compliance across all areas of expertise.

What We Seek:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quality Management, preferably within the agrifood sector
  • Proven experience in quality management systems like ISO 22000, FSSC 22000
  • Strong analytical skills and auditor certification
  • A proactive, organized, and autonomous approach
  • Excellent communication skills in English; French is a plus
  • Willingness to travel frequently to host and partner sites
